“How to Take Action: 12 Habits that Turn Dreams into Reality”

Today i’m sharing this interesting article by HENRIK EDBERG. This is a full written article by Henrik, it will help you understand ways to think when taking an action and how to prioritise most task. Worth reading!

“Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do.”
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

“Don’t wait. The time will never be just right.”
Napoleon Hill

What makes dreams into reality?

I believe that perhaps the most important – and an often ignored – thing is simply taking action.

I used to be really bad at it when I was younger.

Back then I usually got stuck.

I got stuck in my dreams about what I wanted to do. I got stuck in analysis paralysis due to my habit of overthinking things. I got stuck in procrastination and in pessimism.

Things have changed a lot since then though. I have added many new habits that help me to take much more action than I used to.

I hope this week’s article will help you to do the same.

1. Get your day off to a great start by doing the most important thing.

I first learned about this about 15 years ago when I used to sell computers. The boss told us that if we took care of the most important task of the day – often one of the more difficult ones too – right away in the morning the rest of the day would be a lot easier and lighter.

He was right about that. When that first and most important task is done you don’t have to worry about it. It won’t weigh down on your day. You feel good about yourself.

And you’ll have less inner resistance to taking action for the rest of the day.

2. Just take responsibility for your actions and the process.

I love this quote from the ancient Sanskrit Hindu scripture Bhagavad Gita:

“To action alone hast thou a right and never at all to its fruits; let not the fruits of action be thy motive; neither let there be in thee any attachment to inaction.”

Because every time I look at it or remind myself of it I feel a sort of freedom and relief.

This quote reminds me to understand that I cannot control the results of my action. I can’t control how someone reacts to what I say or what I do.

It reminds me that it usually works better for me to stay motivated to keep doing what I do if I do something I really like doing.

Basically, I do what I think is right and that is my responsibility. And then the rest (the possible results), well, that is not up to me to decide about or try to control.

I let it go.

Taking action becomes a so much lighter activity when you only have to take responsibility for doing what you think is right.

3. Don’t feel like doing it? Start small.

Getting the most important thing done first thing in your day and setting yourself up for an action-packed day sounds great in theory.

But in reality you will have unmotivated days. Days when you feel emotionally low or when you are confronted with having to do something you don’t want to do.

That’s life. But no reason to let that sink your day into inaction and feeling sorry for yourself.

I have found that the best thing for these situations is to start very small. To just…

Write for 1-2 minutes.
Lift free weights for just a few repetitions.
Spend 1 minute with getting started on something that scares me.
After that I have the choice to go do something else. But I seldom do. I just need an easy way to get started and then, when I am in motion, I usually continue taking action for a while longer.

4. Don’t hurt yourself.

This is a powerful motivator for me to grow and to become a better person.

If I don’t do what I deep down think is the right thing to do then I hurt myself and my self-esteem. What I do – or do not do – during my day sends powerful signals back to me about what kind of person I am.

There is no escaping yourself. And there is always a price to pay when you don’t do what you think is the right thing.

5. A reminder for focus.

If you don’t remind yourself often about what you need to focus on and why you are doing it then it is easy to let days slip away or to spend too much time on less important things.

So create a a simple reminder on a piece of paper. On it you can for example write down:

Your top 3 priorities in life right now.
Your most important goal or new habit for the next 30 days.
A motto or quote you want to stay focused on and live by at this time in your life.
6. Stay accountable to the people in your life.

An accountability buddy can help you to stay on track and to keep taking action towards your goal or dream even when the initial enthusiasm has dissipated.

For example, many of you as readers help me to stay accountable to provide helpful content. I get feedback all the time about if I do things in a helpful or less helpful way. I get a ton of encouragement.

People closer to me in my life help me to stay accountable to for instance not eating too much unhealthy stuff, to working out and to not working too much.

Find someone in real life or online who wants to get in better shape too. Or start a business online. Motivate each other.

Keep each other accountable so you take action and take steps forward each week.

7. Cycle fully focused work and fully relaxing rest.

Get your kitchen timer or access the stop-watch function on your cellphone.

Set the timer for 45 minutes. During those minutes just work on your most important task/small step forward. Nothing else. No distractions.

After those 45 minutes are up, take a relaxing break. Distract yourself on Facebook if you like. Or step away from your work space and take a short walk, stretch or go for an apple for the next 15 minutes.

By working these fully focused periods of time you’ll:

Get more done and do work of higher quality.
Be able to concentrate for a longer time in your day and week and get less tired.
Train yourself to focus on one thing at time, instead of getting stuck in your mind between work and relaxation and building up friction and stress within.
Be able to enjoy your rest periods without a guilty conscience.
45 minutes of work too much? Try 25 minutes instead.

Procrastinating half-way into your 25 minute period? Set the timer for 10 or 5 minutes and build up the time that you can fully focus on the work over the next few weeks and months.

8. Focus more on the how to and less on the what-ifs.

If your thoughts starts spinning as you are thinking about taking action then in your mind shout: STOP!

Don’t allow yourself to get stuck in the negative spiral of analysis paralysis.

Sure, it is smart to think before you act in many cases but overthinking things tends to become a way to try to control things you cannot control or to simply stay away from action because you are scared in some way.

After you have said stop to that train of thought open up your mind to what you CAN DO instead of all the things that could go wrong in the worst case scenario.

Ask yourself questions like:

What is one small step I can take today to move forward towards my goal or out of this situation?
What is one thing I can learn from this situation?
Write down the answers you come up with and take action on them.

9. People don’t care that much about what you do so don’t let that hold you back.

When I was younger I almost always let what people may have thought or said if I did something hold me back and I got stuck in inaction.

It was more of a self-centered than accurate belief.

In reality people have their own things going on in busy lives. They think about the job, kids, a partner, the cat, a vacation, what to have for dinner and they worry about what you and other people may think about them.

You are probably not the main character in other people’s lives. Even if you are that in your own life.

A realization that can be a bit disappointing but something that can also can set you free from self-imposed bonds.

10. Tap into enthusiasm.

When you dream and when you get started with something new in life then the enthusiasm flows like a fountain.

A few weeks later it may have gone down quite a bit. Don’t let that lead you to quitting if you think this is something you want to continue doing.

Tap into enthusiasm in your surroundings instead.

Let the enthusiasm of your accountability buddy flow of over to you and create a flow back to him or her by being enthusiastic about his or her goals and dreams.
Listen to podcasts or audiobooks by inspiring people.
Read blogs, websites and take courses that help you to get a dose of enthusiasm every week.
Let the enthusiasm from friends, children or pets flow over to you.
Listen to music and watch movies that increase your joy for life.
Bring the enthusiasm of the rest of the world into your life.

11. Add the fun.

Some tasks simply are boring or not much fun at all.

Then try this while you are doing them to add a bit of fun:

Add some music that gives you energy and inspires you.
Make it into a game where you compete with friend about who can finish something first or do the most amount of something in 10 or 30 minutes.
Change your perspective on what you are doing, lighten things up a bit and it tends to become quite a bit easier to take a lot of action on what you may have procrastinated on for some time.

12. Celebrate what you did today.

Take 2 minutes at the end of your day to think about, appreciate and celebrate what you have taken action on today. No matter how small the action may have been.

It will:

Motivate you to get going tomorrow too.
Increase your self-esteem over time.
Make you feel good about yourself and that feeling will spread to the people in your life too.

Discovering How Beautiful Life Can Be!

This post is written by Paul Hoffman, something good to start a day with.

“What inspires me is knowing anything is possible and that I am always being blessed with opportunities for growth, awareness and transformation. It is when we have an attitude of gratitude that we see the most beautiful vision of what life can really look like.

You can make today and everyday the best day of your life by just beginning to think thoughts that are positive and empowering. Our natural state is one of excellence. We all have a calling in our hearts that is unique and special to who we are. The gift we bring to the planet has to be expressed so that the great puzzle of life is complete.

Break through any resistance to change by letting go of fear, doubt and worry, which only lead to limiting behavior. Thinking small and believing anything other than the brilliance of who you are is only some made up story that you have carried around with you. It is not the real you.

It’s time to let go and surrender to the full expression of your perfection and to really see the magnificence of who you are. Always remember to stay in the game and participate in the journey.

The path you are on is the perfect place for you to be and there is nothing that can block or hinder your light. It is each of our duty to show up and share all of who we are. When we begin to see life as a discovering of new ideas then new ideas will come forth.

Your happiness is not somewhere outside of you but right within you right where you are. Have a vision that is bigger than anything you ever thought you could do and ask the universe to help you, it will. Change the lens of how you see yourself and begin to see the opportunities all around you. Walk with compassion and a peaceful presence of unconditional love and give yourself permission to break free from the old beliefs that have been your reality.

Inspire yourself today by listening to the passion in your heart. You have a one-of-a-kind extraordinary blessing of genius – claim it as your own and your destiny will be filled with amazing and awesome fruits of success in every area of your life.

Be the change you want to see. Live your dream. Enjoy the ride as you chart your course to a new consciousness of expression. Called YOU.

Today wake up to more and more of who you are because who you are is an inspiration to all. Share your magnificence and let brilliance be the fuel of your dream”.

How i know am winning..!🔮🎓

What is Winning ?

Too often people get the term “winning” confused.

If you ask most people what winning means, I bet majority will answer: being the first not the last or something like being the best in achieving that goal you have set up.
These viewpoints might be right but don’t best describe the word “winning”.

Think about it for a moment, it’s like asking yourself:

Can you win and actually lose at the same time…?

Can you be a winner if you don’t reach your goals…?

I once had a conversation with a friend regarding a certain goal, and i told him I was winning. He looked at me and laughed, then said: how can u be winning when you not at the top (first), do you have an idea what winning is he added.

I smiled back at him and replied: funny how people confuse winning and winner to be the same, but actually it is not. Me using this phrase means i’m referring to the fact that i was moving forward, getting closer, gaining results and seeing myself progressing, moving toward to a desired outcome, getting there on track. My actions are regulating towards my desire, purpose and my dreams.

It’s not about being first or whether you win or lose but how hard you try. If you put all effort in it and try hard and harder every time, then you are winning/a winner -regardless of you not being first and losing.
This is how i define Winning.  Moving forward with actions of getting closer to that desire.

Think about it: what is winning to you and how does it reflect in your journey…

Few quotes i find best describe winning to my own viewpoint:

-Winning is about hanging on in there when others give up.

-Winning is having belief in yourself and the business you run.

-Winning is about standing in your power, living on purpose in harmony whilst making a profit.

-Winning is about embracing your creativity, inner wisdom and all that is unique and important to you.

-Winning is a game of inner transformation”.

Watch this clip below, it’s inspiring.

You should never try to be better than someone else.

Learn from others and never seize trying to be the best you can be.Is not what others think of you, is not what others perceive you to be, Is what you really are and you are the only one that really know that.

-by John Wooden

Closer & going stronge!

It only gets easier, same way practice makes perfect. We all started somewhere but step-by-step you are closer.
All that is needed is commitment, Patience and lastly Endurance. Like it’s said:
“Rome wasn’t built in a day”.

When you practice something, you formulate a realistic plan and stick to it. Setting aside a dedicated time to learn and practice the new stuff will help keep accumulated information’s fresh.

Nevertheless don’t overwhelm the mind. Also budget a break between every journey, because the mind needs a chance to breathe. Take an hour or two, minutes or day & do something fun or relaxing.

The famous Greek Philosopher Plato once said, “Life must be lived as play”.  Which suggest we should fill our life with activates that we enjoy.

It’s never that easy or fun chasing to achieve something great but having the chance to create a routine is what makes it less difficult.

In every journey there is pressure, stress and difficulties. Best way overcoming the above is the word “Endurance”, it is maintaining commitment to a goal during times of pressure.

My reference to an article i read states:
“Endurance is more than just hanging on by your fingernails… it is also sticking to the end to achieve a final goal even when stress and difficulties might challenge and destroy. Endurance is not just the ability to bear a hard thing, but to turn it into glory. — William Barclay
It’s one of the most fundamental parts of sustainable success. Without it, the goals you have set for your life will be challenging to achieve”.

Those are the most important steps i infuse in my everyday life to get closer with every new goal i setup.

Am I better today than I was yesterday?
Yes should be your everyday answer. But when u can’t say that, then you need to do something right way to change your answer to Yes!

Failure is an event.! Without disappointment, you can’t appreciate victory.

Failure doesn’t mean you not good enough or anything of that nature.

At some point in life everyone fails.  Failure is the part of success that makes you appreciate the importance of that victory!

When i was a kid in school a teacher told me: failure is just something every successful person has gone through, is the road to success.
I really didn’t understand the statement back then but later on slowly i get to understand the word “Failure” after being a victim. Yes it did happen, i failed at something sometimes but got to learn that you don’t die from failures.
Instead it makes you to humble yourself and learn how to pick up from mistakes, in-order to move on.

All the great men and women in history had one thing in common: Failure.
They often failed and failed to the essence of even quoting about failure.

Failure is only a temporary change in direction to set you straight for your next success.
— Denis Waitley

Failure is success if we learn from it.
— Malcolm S. Forbes

But there is suffering in life, and there are defeats. No one can avoid them. But it’s better to lose some of the battles in the struggles for your dreams than to be defeated without ever knowing what you’re fighting for.
— Paulo Coelho

Think like a queen. A queen is not afraid to fail. Failure is another stepping stone to greatness.
— Oprah Winfrey

If you haven’t failed yet, chances are you aren’t trying very hard. Failure doesn’t mean something bad but you trying a new thing you haven’t mastered. It only represent opportunity and growth not lost.

In an article i read earlier about failure as a tool for success, it says: Success takes willpower, intelligence, determination, and grit. But more than anything else, it requires failure. Success is about learning how to recognize why you failed, and how you’re going to compensate for it”.
Which also means whenever we make mistakes or fail at anything, you don’t just quit.

you have to figure out what brought about the failure…
what steps are needed for you to continue or try again…
How can you change your failure to learning/success… what can you do everyday to make your next try greater.

And for you to be determined, you have to trust yourself and not that which people say about your failure. Your goal should be to impress yourself  not to impress others.
Take for example people that create event. Not all events are successful from start. It takes mistakes, failure and great experience to build a successful event.

Without going through all this, you won’t be able to truly appreciate that victory in a joyful manner !
Victory means much more to a person who has never won before than those who always win. To them they appreciate that accomplishment more than the thought of success.

Knowledge is Experience

Have you ever come across the word “knowledge is power” and what are your thoughts…?

Being good at anything requires knowledge, and knowledge is the information acquired through education or experiences.

Having to know anything is very important but doesn’t mean you have the right knowledge. Right knowledge for me: is the action you apply to information or education you have acquired. This is known as experience, making the right use of that information by putting it in practice and see yourself produce/develop out of that which you’ve acquired.

Acquiring knowledge can be very simple to do with the help of reading books, doing researches or even getting information from newscast etc. There is a difference of just knowing without putting it in actions and “knowing” by doing.

It’s like you studying something on the internet/at school and saying you have the knowledge but in practice you find it difficult, because you haven’t done it before. Such knowledge can easily be forgotten.

“Any fool can know. The point is to understand.”
― Albert Einstein

Knowledge can be worthless if you don’t put it in actions or have the motivation to create something with it.

Whatever you do with that experience matters a lot because you have to be able to challenge yourself , so you can grow and learn. Sometimes you don’t succeed with that knowledge of what you know but all you have to do is start over. The more you learn to experience the easier it becomes.

“Knowledge is power. Power to do evil…or power to do good. Power itself is not evil. So knowledge itself is not evil.”
― Veronica Roth, Allegiant

For me i believe that “motivation” is powerful than the word “Knowledge is Power”.

As noted earlier: it is easy to acquire knowledge through different means but how motivated are you to do something with it, that’s a We could see someone doing something wrong or mistreating others and we know such is wrong , we have the knowledge of what is right or wrong but we still don’t do the right thing.  All because we not really motivated to take that right step, instead we allow fear to take over our action & knowledge.

SHARE and leave your thoughts!

How often we don’t find ourselves at this point, doing things in repeat or having the regrets = wish I started earlier or didn’t quit at first. Now starting over again what a pain and time wasting.
Procrastinating is a dangerous thing, there is never a better timing than immediate response to tasks. Think like this: you don’t know your next hour, minute or seconds. Anything can happen when you least expect and your timing becomes too late whereby you had the chance earlier.
As quoted:

A Stitch In Time Saves Nine

IF not now when… Procrastination is that action of you ruining your own life for no reason.
This happens to everyone from time to time, so I’m not perfect as a writer but knowing the various causes of procrastination might help you to respond quickly.

1. Lack of motivation!
Our motivation can be very low and we end up finding it hard to get anything going. Let go of worries and try to discover your purpose in life, let it inspire you. It’s hard to defeat procrastination if you don’t have a purpose. We don’t procrastinate on things we love to do, which makes it difficult to think you’re going the wrong way.

2. Stress
You easily can start procrastinating when stressed and worried, don’t expect to be so productive at this point. Your only way out is reducing that amount of stress in your life. You have to balance your day, do things because you really want to and not because you have to. There is time for everything right… So as much work is being done same thing goes for play time as equally important. That way you can reduce stress.

3. Don’t overwhelm yourself.
One thing at a time, we are not superheroes, you don’t multitask yourself true reality.
The more items you give yourself the more overwhelming you become and start procrastinating. Give yourself as much as you can handle even when you trying to push your ability to do more, don’t over push. Reduce schedules of things.
In job places, I don’t personally tolerate a job that makes me overwork myself to that point of feeling overwhelmed.

Take control and make less space for procrastinating.

Courage is not the non-existence of fear. It is you overcoming your fear in any situation.
To pursue a dream you need to be courageous, taking a risk for something good.

Fear is the factor that rob us all of our dream. The way to overcome this is courage. Having courage is being able to face that failure and the situation of getting hurt.

Fear can make one hopeless, helpless and even do things more wrongly. But note: the word fear only exist in the mind.

You can conquer almost any fear if you will only make up your mind to do so. For remember, fear doesn’t exist anywhere except in the mind.

– Dale Carnegie

You being courageous can conquer all this by having the willingness to confront any danger ahead. Courage can make the difference between your circumstances and greatness.

Being realistic; there are no perfect moment, so don’t expect greatness while sitting on your butt waiting for the perfect opportunity before you act. Don’t hold your breath because It won’t happen.
You need to have the courage to take risks if you want to go anywhere in life.

People take risk everyday even mountain climbers risk it just to see how beautiful the view it from far. It is the same for us. We must be courageous and willing to risk it.

You grow through your experiences, it is mostly where you find the strength to move forward.

Do you & will you have the courage to live life to the full?

Determination and self-discipline

Firmness of purpose, the act of coming to a decision.
Determination is the biggest factor of success, but you need to have the “will” to do what you want.
Being willing and able to express your desire.

What does it take to be a champion? Desire, dedication, determination, concentration and the will to win.
– Patty Berg

It is easy to get motivated, inspire and learn the principles to success.
Learn the actions that can lead to achieving goals, making plans, getting career promotions or making a better person out of yourself.

But all of the above requires a quality in you:
The ability you have to control and motivate yourself, staying on track and doing what is right.

Eventually many people get frustrated and give up on the process…they expect instant result/instant success, instead of developing self-discipline and having a balance for every step.

Having a balance is the idea of finding it difficult to quit on yourself . You don’t just focus only on the outcome or journey, it’s very important to know where you going.

However be clear about your vision & purpose, your energy levels should be controlled by having enough sleep/rest of mind and focus on enjoying the journey.
Then with determination, balance and commitment you will hopefully be able to progress positively.

Your self discipline is for you to:

Care more than normal and more than necessarily about the result you want.
– Byron Davis
